About Imilla Designs Co.

Imilla Designs Co. (pronounced EE-ME-yah) is the Quechua word for “young girl” which is an indigenous language of the Andes in South America and was part of a childhood nickname. Choosing this name felt like the most natural way to honor my Bolivian heritage while creating a space for my culture and creativity to come together.

Born and raised in Houston, Texas I have always had large pride for both my Bolivian and Mexican heritages. I draw a lot of inspiration for my designs from my life in Houston!

Outside of needlepoint, I also enjoy reading (Romance and Nonfiction) and shooting film photography, which helps me slow down and see beauty in everyday moments, something that naturally finds its way into my creative process.
